The ‘Palestinian Paintings’ by Zohar

Thursday, 15 August 2019 by CHaCAdmin
The “Palestinian Paintings” were born out of anger and frustration in reaction to the Israeli occupation in the West Bank and Gaza.
I grew up in Israel and watched with horror to see my country becoming (after the war in 1967) a military power carrying a brutal occupation over millions of civilians.
I was a member in every movement and organization that tried to bring an end  to this inhumane situation. Finely I decided to leave Israel, as I didn’t want the atrocities to be carried out in my name!
These paintings which I did in the last three years, are my way, as an Artist, to awaken the conscious of people to the endless suffering of the Palestinians.
I hope the paintings will be a reminder of ongoing confiscation and destruction of homes and land, systematic bombing and shelling of houses and population. Inflicting daily terror on men women and children, and ongoing policy of endless humiliation in every aspect of private life!
-Zohar-
Zohar  is a classically-trained figurative painter whose devotion to the Old Masters of the 17th Century is reflected in his unique meditations upon contemporary human existence and achievement in the 21st century. Born in Kazakhstan in 1945, an alumnus of Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, Israel, Zohar works and resides in London, England, where he has lived since 1987.
Come along to Chester Art Centre on 18 October at 6:30 PM onwards to meet Zohar and see his amazing paintings, which talk to us about what is most important – the value of human lives.

15 December 2016 at 6.30 PM

Join us for some beautiful art themed around Chester and Cheshire as well as a few very unusual and funny additions to the exhibition by Carl Longmate!

Carl is a prolific Painter; whose work reflects a positive and optimistic view of life.

Starting as a young finished Artist in Advertising, Carl quickly learned to produce creative work with energy. Preferring to work from life now, Carl says:

“I like to experience my surroundings and absorb the atmosphere, be it town, or country. Painting outside suits me!

I believe in commitment to art, and that can means experiencing some discomfort,

I rarely plan, or even have time to fully mix colour, I just get on with it!”

Introduced to the Scottish Colourist’s when working at the Glasgow School of Art, Carl was definitely influenced. His work having a hyper colour quality, reminiscent of that style.

Carl is a published painter and has been featured in Cheshire Life Magazine, Pure Magazine, and Derbyshire’s award winning Arts Beat.Carl was also featured in Vernon Building societies Charity Calendar.

He is represented by several Galleries, and has won awards including The Colourfield Gallery Award, and Department of Trade and Industry best business award.
