‘Sun, Colours and Imagination’ art exhibition by William Duncan and Alex Rezende

We welcome ‘Sun, Colour and Imagination’ art exhibition by William Duncan and Alex Rezende during the dark and wet weeks of October! 🙂 The exhibition will run between 20 October and 3 November, with the private view taking place on Thursday, the 22nd of October 2020.
The subject matter is various depictions of the sun in remembered or imaginary landscapes and dreams. William’s use of intense, vibrant colours in oils harmonises with Alex’s creative imagination.
We hope our work gives the impression of warmth and passion and a sense of freedom. Most of our work for this exhibition has been created since the start of lockdown in March and has been an ongoing process.

‘I started my creative career working as a stage technician at various theatres in London. After being in this profession for over 10 years I decided I wanted a complete change so I did a ‘Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) course’, which gave me the opportunity to teach and travel abroad. I chose São Paulo, Brazil and lived there for 15 years.  During this time, I studied at, “Escola Panamericana de Arte de São Paulo and studied art history with a well-known Brazilian art critic ,Rodrigo Naves. During this time I also studied with Ilka Lemos, a painter and sculptor at her studio in São Paulo. I then moved to Paraty, Rio de Janeiro state where I opened the WDAR Studio/Gallery. After 5 years there I decided to move back to the UK.I lived for a couple of years in Bristol and am now based in Liverpool. My ‘Tropical adventure’ is still present and a great inspiration in my artwork’.

I was born and brought up in São Paulo, Brazil, I have always been surrounded by artistic influences within my family. A family of actors and artists. In 1995 I began working as a photographer’s assistant for a fashion photographer. In 2001 I made some appearances at MTV and wrote and presented a program on M.T.V Television Brazil. Between 2002 and 2003 I was more involved in the production of comedy programs for coastal radio stations. In 2004 with William Duncan and Brazilian artist, Ilka Lemos I was encouraged to pursue my artistic flair. In 2009 I moved to a small town in Rio state, Paraty where we started the WDAR project there, making art together and opened a Gallery/Studio. In 2014 I moved to Bristol, the U.K being a great influence on my artwork. And now I’m exploring new possibilities in Liverpool expressing my new life experiences in my artworks, music, painting, writing… I like to find new ways to express myself every day. All situations could be new inspirations!
