SPOTLIGHT ON COLOUR – Colour Mixing Workshop
Confused about colour mixing?…
Can you tell the difference between a hot red and a cold red? Can you portray any colour as it looks on either a sunny morning or a wintry afternoon? Do you mix up tertiary colours with ease? Do you know how to create light and shade, depth and perspective using colour rather than line?
If you don’t or you’re not yet confident about using colour in your paintings, this class is for you. Whatever your chosen medium, you will find out how to get the colours and effects you want, how to create the right mood and how to get there without leaving a muddy trail or producing a series of unplanned clashes. During the class, a range of exercises will first sharpen your awareness, then your new knowledge will be applied in a number of quick sketches in colours of your choice. Paper and paints can be supplied, but it is better to use the materials you already have.
Anna Cosslett has been exhibiting her artworks since 2003 and has taught numerous art classes in her role as a tutor for the Open College. She has worked as a professional cartoonist, and won prizes for her art in national competitions. A range of her paintings and mixed media works can be viewed at akoz.co.uk and on her Facebook gallery wall.
