Monogramming : Level 1
This monogramming class is taught by Stephanie Bonneau, a Senior Embroidery Designer and Tutor based in Cheshire, who will show you how to beautifully customise your items. Monograms are very delicate and precise and add a personal touch. They have been used throughout British history for thousands of years to personalise garments.
Stephanie always wanted to be an embroiderer and since graduating from embroidery school she worked for design houses in Paris Fashion shows.
Throughout her career she has worked for embroidery houses such as Atelier Lesage, Atelier Cecile Henry, Atelier Hurel and many others. She has represented multinational design houses such as Chanel, Christian Dior, Valentino, Burberry and Alexander McQueen.
Stephanie still works with fashion houses for Haute Couture collections during Paris fashion weeks. In 2010 she moved to London to work for the world-renowned Atelier Hand & Lock. Through dedication and hard work she soon progressed to Head Embroiderer managing a team to deliver bespoke embroidery pieces. At Hand & Lock she had the opportunity to represent both the Diamond Jubilee and London 2012 Olympic Games by delivering embroidery pieces for both events.
Stephanie has experience in teaching where she has lead classes in London and New York to demonstrate embroidery techniques including gold work and tambour beading. In 2017 she taught at the National Seminar Embroider’s Association of Canada.
Following five years at Hand & Lock Stephanie moved to the position of Embroidery Designer at Ralph & Russo in Mayfair. At the same time Stephanie wanted to create her own Atelier and in 2015 Atelier Saint Clare was formed.
“The transmission of embroidery art has always been my priority” Stephanie
Stephanie now develops swatches for clients, private commissions and represents Design Houses at London and Paris fashion weeks and teaches embroidery techniques Internationally during National Seminars.
This class will allow students to learn the skills in drawing their own initials and transferring them into the fabric. They will learn the stem stitch and satin stitch which are used to embroider a monogram. They will also have the opportunity to apply the technique onto a personal item at the end of the session if they desire.
The aim of this class is to provide an introduction to monogramming and to learn how to apply it to your own item.
This class includes a kit with cotton fabric, needles and embroidery threads.
